DEAL AGREED: Wests Tigers and Castleford Tigers are now in final stages of contract agreement for top forward

CASTLEFORD TIGERS are currently rebuilding after a disappointing 2023 Super League season.

The West Yorkshire club finished second bottom of the Super League table after only six wins all season, with head coaches Lee Radford, Andy Last, and Danny Ward all taking over at various points throughout the season.

Craig Lingard has been named head coach, and new players such as Elie El-Zakhem, Nixon Putt, and Josh Hodson have been recruited.

Castleford’s recruiting is nearly complete, but Wests Tigers forward James Roumanos is waiting for the club to release a quota place.

Earlier this year, League Express learned that the Tigers were interested in Roumanos but were unable to sign him before the August deadline.

The Tigers’ interest has not waned, with Roumanos – a Lebanese international with 5 caps for his country – expected to sign a contract with Castleford once a quota player is moved on, League Express can confirm.

Albert Vete is largely thought to be that quota player, with the club looking for a season-long loan option abroad, which would see the former Hull KR prop removed from Castleford’s quota.

However, League Express believes that Vete has begged for another chance at The Jungle following a poor first year with the club.

Roumanos, 24, has yet to play a game for Wests Tigers after joining the club, but he did make his debut with the Manly Sea Eagles in 2022.
