DONE DEAL: Chris Jack shares Rangers new manager will land in n Glasgow tonight

According to journalist Chris Jack, Rangers management candidate Philippe Clement will not arrive in Glasgow tonight.

The Rangers review journalist revealed on his personal Twitter account (10 October) that the Gers had not made a definitive decision on a management candidate and that conversations are still underway.

On Tuesday, October 10th, news emerged from Saudi Arabia claiming that the Light Blues offered Clement a four-year contract to take up the vacant position [Al-Riyadiah, 10 October], with PLZ Soccer also suggesting that Clement was due in Scotland tonight to discuss conditions.

However, Jack has put cold water on claims that the Gers have yet to decide on their chosen candidate, tweeting:

“Philippe Clement is not coming to Glasgow tonight.” The Rangers have not made a final selection on any applicant, and negotiations are still underway.”

The race continues.

After news from Saudi emerged, it appeared that Clement was actually the favoured choice, and what an intriguing option he would have been given his work in Monaco and Belgium.

But, given the importance of the role at Ibrox, Rangers executives John Bennett and James Bisgrove are taking their time with this decision, and it is one that must be approached with caution.
If the club is to have any hope of success on the field, the next guy in the dugout must remain there for the long haul.

Stability is needed in Glasgow, and it has been severely missing recently, with an interim manager in charge, which is not ideal for anyone associated to the club.

Clement was fired after a year at Monaco after failing to secure Champions League football, and similar failure will not be accepted given the failures of Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhurst.

Results must improve as soon as possible, which can only be accomplished with the help of an experienced, talented management. It remains to be seen whether Clement is that man, and it is only fair that the club give due consideration to alternative options.
