HUGE BLOW: Milan star suffer Injury set back on international duties

Milan has received bad news from international duty, as centre-forward Olivier Giroud limped off while playing for France with a left ankle injury.

The striker started this evening’s EURO 2024 qualifier in Paris against the Republic of Ireland.

He had already received treatment earlier in the game, with spray being given to his left ankle.

Giroud then attempted to continue playing, but in the 25th minute, when sliding in to try to get on the end of a cross from his Milan teammate Theo Hernandez, the veteran gestured to the sideline and begged to be substituted.

The France veteran, who will turn 37 later this month, removed his left boot before walking off the field, evidently in pain.

Inter forward Marcus Thuram took his position.

The worse news for Milan is that they will play a Scudetto clash with archrivals Inter on the Saturday after the international break.

Giroud made a fantastic start to the season, scoring four goals and providing an assist in three Serie A games.
