JUST IN: Rams’ Sean McVay Details injury update on Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp after an embarrassing defect at Green Bay

The Los Angeles Rams’ season started stronger than expected, but it’s beginning to look a lot like their 2022 season. Injuries to important players such as Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp plagued the Los Angeles Rams last season. With Stafford and breakthrough rookie Puka Nacua both injured, LA’s attack is starting to lose some bite.

Matthew Stafford has already been declared out of the game against the Green Bay Packers. That’s already a significant setback for a squad in desperate need of skill. According to Ian Rapoport, despite his present injury, Nacua will be available for the Rams. That’s wonderful news for Los Angeles as they strive to climb out of their 3-5 hole.

“Injury updates for today: — While #Rams QB Matthew Stafford (thumb) is not expected to play, WR Puka Nacua (knee) is slated to play.”
Nacua and Stafford aren’t the only offensive players that have been out. Kyren Williams, another promising rookie, is still on the injured reserve list. LA showed potential early in the season, especially to Nacua and their defense. However, the loss of Williams’ excellent rushing has hindered the Rams offense recently.

With the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers vying for first place in the NFC West, the Rams’ best chance may be in the Wild Card round. However, given their roster’s talent and the caliber of their opponents, that appears to be a long shot.

LA has a chance to make the playoffs even if Stafford misses more time and Brett Rypien performs like a rookie. In Week 9, we’ll see how they do against another struggling team, the Packers.
