DONE DEAL: Boston Celtics sign two – way contract for Kings fan-favorite center Forward to fill their third-and-final slot.

There are no more two-way spots available for the Boston Celtics this summer. On Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic claimed that Boston has agreed to sign former Sacramento Kings fan favorite center Neemias Queta for their third-and-final spot.

“Free agent 7-footer Neemias Queta is finalizing a two-way NBA contract with the Boston Celtics, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium,” tweeted Charania. “Queta has spent the past two seasons with the Kings, who drafted him in the second round in 2021.”

The Kings dismissed Queta and Nerlens Noel earlier this week after signing JaVale McGee.

Last season, he participated in just five games for the Pacific Division’s surprise winner. In those outings, he averaged 2.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 66.7% from the field.

What position will Neemias Queta play for the Boston Celtics?
It’s most likely a very small one.

Again, he struggled to earn minutes for the Kings last season and spent the majority of his time with their G-League affiliate in Stockton.

Queta made an impression in 29 G-League matches. He averaged 16.8 points per game, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game.

With Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis, and Robert Williams III all ahead of him on the depth chart, there isn’t much room for him in Boston’s rotation. When minutes become available, Luke Kornet will most likely push him out of the lineup.

However, Queta’s seven-foot stature and ability to finish inside make him an intriguing prospect to fill in for any of the aforementioned Celtics big men. Horford, Porzingis, and Williams III all missed approximately 20 games last season, so he could play in Boston.

However, the 24-year-old is set to spend the majority of his time in the G-League, this time with the Maine Celtics.
