HUGE BLOW: Leeds United Latest ‘Complicated Declaration’ could see their Key Players leave amid transfer deadline

Ilan Meslier’s sale was ‘expected’ by Leeds United in the summer, but Daniel Farke has kept the goalkeeper as the starter. The Athletic asserts that late interest from Celta Vigo did not result in a formal move, which supports their allegation.

Meslier was one of many first-team players who were expected to leave Elland Road when their team was demoted from the Premier League. The shot-stopper had been out of sorts, and interim manager Sam Allardyce benched him for the final four games.

Numerous teams were said to be interested in the 23-year-old, and the Whites’ acquisition of goalkeeper Karl Darlow from Newcastle United appeared to confirm his probable departure. When questioned about a possible departure from the club, Meslier acknowledged that it was “really complicated.”

It’s complicated, he told the French publication RMC Sport. It’s really complex. I don’t know whether you’ve seen the coach, but our team is being acquired by the San Francisco 49ers when you get out of a predicament that is ours. There are suddenly a lot of unknowns. I currently have a contract that runs through 2026. After that, I’ll have to consider what’s best for me, whether it’s staying at Leeds United or moving on to another team.

Meslier has started each of the team’s first five Championship games despite Daniel Farke having doubts about his starter before the season opening against Cardiff City. The La Liga team did not make a late move for the France under-21 international, who is under contract until 2026, despite their interest, and the goalkeeper appears to be putting a difficult period of his career behind him after some encouraging early season displays.
