CELTICS – KINGS TRADE: Boston Celtices Have Officially Traded For Sacramento Kings Big Man

Is it possible for the Boston Celtics to acquire Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis in a blockbuster? According to one podcast, it is worthwhile to investigate.

The Sacramento Kings big man was considered as a possible solution to Boston’s frontcourt problems in a recent episode of NESN’s “Hold My Banner” podcast, which was hosted by Kasey Hudson and Ountae Campbell.
The Celtics may want to look into aggressive possibilities because Jayson Tatum is still healing from an Achilles tear and the roster is changing due to summer departures.

However, the possibility was not limited to the podcast.

How Can Celtics TRADE for Domantas Sabonis?

According to Siddhant Gupta’s thorough analysis from Fadeaway World, Boston’s “roster [has been] stripped bare of the talent that helped them deliver a championship.” An imaginary trade including Anfernee Simons, Sam Hauser, Georges Niang, Neemias Queta, and two first-round picks for Sabonis was proposed in that same article.

The three-time All-Star just finished a season in which he shot 59 percent from the field and averaged 19.1 points, 13.9 rebounds, and six assists per game.

His ability to stretch the floor and start offense from the post would give Boston a dynamic anchor in the paint, something that Luka Garza, Neemias Queta, and Xavier Tillman can’t always deliver.

Is This Domantas Sabonis Trade a Celtics Overpay?

With a four-year, $175.6 million contract that he is starting in the second year of, Sabonis will be permanently committed to Tatum once the Celtics star is healthy. Financially speaking, Boston’s cap hit would go up if Simons were traded for Sabonis, but center stability would also be increased.

Naturally, for the time being, it is still only chatter. But Boston testing Sabonis might be more than just smoke in a summer full of reorganizations.
