When it comes to signing elite players, the Miami Heat haven’t exactly had the best luck.
However, that won’t stop us from looking into possible names for our trip to South Florida. A Bleacher Report story listed some well-known players who might make trade requests in the near future, including Utah Jazz standout Lauri Markkanen.
“The Jazz would like us to know that the 28-year-old Markkanen is totally a cornerstone for the future, and that they’re totally not trading him, but that he’s also clearly not untouchable,” the writer of the article wrote. Yes, Utah does not currently need to deal with Markkanen. Furthermore, it doesn’t appear that he would insist on a transfer a year after receiving his windfall. Miami has long been linked to the All-Star forward as a potential suitor for its frontcourt. Last season, he averaged 19 points on 42.3 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from 3-point range, showing a decline in his output. In any case, he and Bam Adebayo would be an offensive weapon for the Heat. He might replace Tyler Herro as the team’s number two scorer, freeing up Adebayo to be more of a defensive threat by relieving some of the offensive pressure.
“Perhaps Markkanen gets frustrated with the emphasis on youthful development,” said the article. “Maybe he just tires of hearing his name in trade rumors and decides to formally join them to end the suspense.”
A few first-round selections, Terry Rozier, and Andrew Wiggins would probably be involved in a possible trade.
