However, he is unlikely to be able to play to his full potential in 2025. After acquiring first-round choice Matthew Golden and third-round pick Savion Williams in the NFL Draft, Green Bay now has too many good pass catchers to go around. With Romeo Doubs unhappy, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton suggested a trade between the Packers and the Tennessee Titans.
“Doubs can carve out a sizable role with the Titans as their No. 2 receiver behind Calvin Ridley,” Moton writes in his column. “He has much greater potential on a squad that needs help at his position.”
Packers and Titans linked in Romeo Doubs trade rumors.
It’s clear why the Titans are a frequent trade destination for Romeo Doubs. Following a catastrophic 2024 season, Tennessee used the first overall pick on Cam Ward in the hopes that he would become their new franchise quarterback. Ward has more upside and a higher floor than Will Levis, but he won’t thrive with a weak supporting cast. Calvin Ridley is a dependable WR1, but the rest of the depth chart could use some help.
As of this writing, Van Jefferson and Tyler Lockett are competing for the starting slot beside Ridley in this offense. Jefferson has never been more than an unimpressive depth option, and Lockett, although once a reliable weapon, has slowed in recent years. Tennessee has a reputation of bringing in once-great receivers way past their prime, and Lockett figures to be the latest guy to suit up with the Titans before quietly retiring.
Romeo Doubs is not a superstar, but a trade would provide Cam Ward with much-needed security at receiver. This squad is unlikely to challenge for a division title in 2025, hence the primary goal should be to ensure Ward develops into a dependable starter.
The easiest way to accomplish this is to encourage his development, and Doubs should improve his chances of being the team’s long-awaited solution under center.
Are the Packers interested?
Of course, nothing will happen unless the Green Bay Packers agree on a Romeo Doubs deal. With that said, this squad has every motivation to maximize their value on Doubs’ services. The wide receiver is entering the final year of his deal, and the Golden and Williams draft picks indicate that Doubs is not in the team’s long-term plans. Rather than letting him depart for free, the Packers should get a draft selection for his services.
