The rumors surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo appear to be constantly changing. About a month ago, it was speculated that he would be reconsidering his future with the Milwaukee Bucks following a first-round playoff defeat and Damian Lillard tearing his Achilles.
Those speculations rapidly faded as it became clear that Antetokounmpo intended to stay in Milwaukee, so much of the trade talk died down, even with the San Antonio Spurs acquiring the second selection and speculating that they could use it in a trade for a superstar like Antetokounmpo.
However, Shams Charania, an ESPN NBA source, revealed on the “Pat McAfee Show” that internal discussions concerning Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future may still be taking place.
“This is a person who keeps information close to the vest. This is someone who always does things quietly. So, I’m sure there are conversations going on right now that we don’t know about involving Giannis Antetokounmpo and his camp… I think the focus right now is on what Milwaukee can do to improve this club.”
The Bucks appear to be mired in the mud with no real opportunities for progress, since they have only one tradeable first-round selection, no enticing young assets, and players with high-value contracts who are worth little to other clubs.
Milwaukee just traded for Kyle Kuzma at the trade deadline, which appeared like a bad decision throughout the playoffs. If Antetokounmpo wants to make a move, he may allow the Bucks to do so and see where they end up by next season’s trade deadline.
