“I Hated 26”: Lions Star Jahmyr Gibbs Stuns NFL World and Lions Fan Base With Shocking Reasons For Lions Jersey Change To No. 0

Jahmyr Gibbs, a running back for the Detroit Lions, recently discussed his choice to change his jersey number from ’26’ to ‘0’. Gibbs announced his desire to change his jersey number some time ago, and many NFL fans have speculated about what the number represents to the 23-year-old University of Alabama product.

When pressed by Detroit Lions writer Eric Woodyard about the number ‘0’, Gibbs admitted that it had no special value and was simply chosen since he couldn’t get the number ‘1’.

“I despised being 26. When I was drafted, the only options available were 26, 33, 35, and so on, therefore I chose 26. As soon as I could, I altered it. I wanted one, but Jamo (Jameson Williams) had one, so zero was right next to it. There’s no special meaning to it.” When asked about his decision to change his jersey number, Jahmyr Gibbs revealed it, according to Eric Woodyard.

Regardless of the jersey number he wears, Jahmyr Gibbs understands how important his services are to the Detroit Lions this season. Gibbs and the rest of the Lions have been practicing hard in the hopes of improving their performance in the 2025 season and making it past the playoffs.

Aside from Gibbs, the Lions will rely on quarterback Jared Goff to lead the attack. Gibbs, wide receiver Jameson Williams, and D.J. Reed will also be key players on the Lions’ roster for the 2018 NFL season.

Jahmyr Gibbs Places Massive Bet With Amon-Ra St. Brown
On another note, Jahmyr Gibbs has even more motivation to succeed in the next football season with the Detroit Lions. According to Eric Woodyard, Gibbs has an ongoing wager with his colleague, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, to accumulate 1,000 receiving yards and 1,000 running yards in the upcoming NFL season.

If Gibbs achieves these figures, St. Brown is expected to purchase him “anything”. Gibbs informed Woodyard that the wide receiver would be purchasing him “a house”. St. Brown, who has been with the Detroit Lions since 2021, is nothing short of himself.

In the previous football season, the younger brother of Equanimeous St. Brown had an astounding 115 receptions and 12 touchdowns. Perhaps the new challenge St. Brown has set for Gibbs will boost the running back’s numbers with the Lions.
