HUGE DEAL COMPLETED: Spurs Have Officially Signed and Welcome All-Star PG to $230 Million Deal as Wembanyama Sidekick

The San Antonio Spurs have set themselves up for another dynastic run through the NBA in the coming years, having drafted the previous two Rookie of the Year award winners, Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle.

San Antonio also owns the rights to the second and fourteen picks in a stacked 2025 draft, and former Rutgers guard Dylan Harper is projected to be selected immediately after the Dallas Mavericks make Duke forward Cooper Flagg the latest No. 1 overall pick on Wednesday, June 25th.

The Spurs are in a position to perhaps trade with the Phoenix Suns for Kevin Durant, who has stated that San Antonio is his favorite destination, and will have youth and talent throughout the lineup in 2025–2026. Since Durant will turn 37 before the upcoming season and doesn’t exactly match their other stars’ timeframe, it’s unknown how aggressive the Spurs might be in the Durant trade discussions.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN, however, forecast on Saturday that the team will probably sign 27-year-old point guard De’Aaron Fox to a huge new contract this summer after acquiring him in the middle of the previous campaign.

“On August 3, Fox can sign for four years and $229 million and, after trading three first-round picks for him this past February, expect the Spurs to do so,” wrote Windhorst.

Throughout his eight-year NBA career, Fox has averaged 21.5 points and 6.1 assists, earning him All-Star status with the Sacramento Kings in the 2022–2023 season.
