JUST IN: Suns – Heat Trade: Miami Heat Are Set To Trade NBA All-Star Forward To Suns In Exchange For Kevin Durant

As the 2025 NBA Draft draws closer, the Miami Heat are still among the top trade suitors for Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns.

The Heat have been aggressively pursuing the 15-time All-Star in recent weeks, and Durant’s continuing trade dilemma has taken over the NBA rumor mill.

According to recent reports from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Heat’s Andrew Wiggins has caught the eye of Phoenix’s front office, as Durant’s camp and the Suns collaborate to find a trade partner that benefits both sides.

The Suns seem to have held some first inside talks on the Heat’s 2022 All-Star as a potential trade deal with a potential rival approaches.

“The Suns have done background work on Heat forward Andrew Wiggins, league sources told HoopsHype,” Scotto reported on Monday.

“Wiggins is owed $28.22 million this upcoming season and would likely be a part of any Heat trade package for Durant.”

Although Scotto made care to point out that the Heat’s Kel’el Ware might also be needed to pull a trade across the finish line, the Suns probably see Wiggins as an unavoidable component of a future Durant deal.

“A key factor in Miami’s chances of landing Durant could hinge on whether the franchise is willing to part with talented 21-year-old big man Kel’el Ware, who’s of interest to Phoenix.”

Durant has shown himself to be a costly commodity on the trade market, even as he approaches the end of his career.

The 36-year-old deadly scorer scored 26.6 points and pulled down 6.0 rebounds in 62 games with the Suns in 2024–25, averaging an amazing 64.2% true shooting percentage.

The 30-year-old Wiggins, a talented two-way wing and 2022 NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors, could eventually contribute significantly to a good Suns club if he stayed through what might be a non-competitive phase.

Wiggins averaged 19.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 17 regular season games with the Heat after being traded from the Warriors in the historic Jimmy Butler trade at the halfway point of the season.

Although he is a productive player, Pat Riley, the president of the Heat, would not hesitate to trade the Suns the former No. 1 overall pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2014 NBA Draft in exchange for a player of Durant’s caliber.
