The Kevin Durant trade rumors have become the trendiest topic in the NBA, with several sources claiming he will be transferred this offseason. Several teams have emerged as front-runners to sign the Phoenix Suns’ superstar.
Currently, the San Antonio Spurs are regarded one of the favorites to sign Durant, with sources stating that the player himself wants to play for the Spurs.
However, recent events indicate that this may no longer be true.
According to RG, doubts are increasing regarding whether the Spurs will eventually acquire Durant through trade. The Spurs are expected to use their No. 2 choice in the 2017 NBA Draft to select Rutgers outstanding guard Dylan Harper.
According to sources, NBA observers worry whether the Spurs and Suns are sufficiently aligned to finalize a trade.
Furthermore, many feel the Spurs value Giannis Antetokounmpo higher than Durant on their trade board, yet interest in Giannis’ availability remains low.
Given Durant’s age and the fact that his timetable does not match that of Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs are reportedly wary about potential trade compensation. From their standpoint, keeping the No. 2 choice appears to be a better long-term strategy.
They are highly likely to select Dylan Harper, who is regarded as the second-best prospect in this draft class, trailing Cooper Flagg, the projected first pick.
