A trade to the Atlanta Falcons is a serious possibility for Jalen Ramsey, but there are a few major obstacles to overcome.
The Falcons have been wanting to add depth on defense. Not simply bodies to fill holes, but athletes who can continue to play and contribute to the team’s goals in a more aggressive style of play.
Raheem Morris, the Falcons’ head coach, has had a good connection with Jalen Ramsey from their time together with the Los Angeles Rams. On paper and financially, the transition may not appear simple. Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals is one example of an experienced leader who may help Atlanta.
However, the Falcons aren’t in a good position to provide anything in return.
The Dolphins will most certainly seek draft capital, and the Falcons are limited in that regard for 2025. Atlanta traded back into this year’s first round to select edge rusher James Pearce Jr., foregoing its 2026 first-round pick.
This may prevent the Falcons from pursuing a trade, but the possibility cannot be fully dismissed. Raheem Morris has the highest regard for Ramsey, and Ramsey enjoyed playing for Morris. A deal might be reached if the Miami Dolphins settle for a couple of second-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Atlanta is already short on picks in 2026, with only five total. Atlanta picked Xavier Watts and Billy Bowman to shore up the secondary, and then signed Cobee Bryant as a UDFA, who may have the best chance of reaching the active roster of any UDFA. Bryant went undrafted on draft night from the Kansas Jayhawks, despite being predicted as a day two or three choice.
With the Atlanta Falcons in win-now mentality, nothing is off the table if the organization wants to add a handful of seasoned defensive players.
