Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love expressed gratitude to another Wisconsin professional sports team, but fans criticized his efforts.
Love appeared at Milwaukee’s American Family Field on Memorial Day to throw out the first pitch in a Milwaukee Brewers baseball game versus the Boston Red Sox.
But the quarterback’s attempt at tossing the perfect pitch didn’t come to fruition.
To his credit, Love’s throw traveled the full 90 feet from the mound to the plate.
The only difficulty was that the toss was so high that it exited the frame of the camera, forcing catcher Christian Yelich to get up and reach for it.
Plenty of NFL fans blasted Love for his terrible performance, with many making fun of his accuracy.
‘Anytime the ball leaves the frame, it’s not good,’ writes The Athletic’s Packers beat reporter Matt Schneidman.
‘Watching athletes from other sports try to pitch a baseball indefinitely makes me shudder. “I expected more from a quarterback,” stated one fan.
‘This is really brutal from a quarterback,’ another admirer pointed out. Another added, ‘About as accurate as his average throw.’
One fan commented, ‘I think Carly Rae Jepsen had a better first pitch,’ referring to the pop superstar’s unsuccessful first pitch effort.
Love will hope that his throws in the NFL season will be considerably more accurate than this one.
