The Indiana Pacers’ series-clinching Game 5 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday sparked a flurry of extracurricular action on the basketball floor.
Pacers fans swarmed the court immediately following the final buzzer. This featured Indiana point guard Tyrese Haliburton’s father, John Haliburton, who had a violent argument with Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Several videos of the event have circulated on social media, including one in which John Haliburton is seen mocking Antetokounmpo immediately following the victory.
Tyrese Haliburton’s father received widespread criticism from fans and analysts alike, as well as some harsh criticism from his own son, who stated that his father was in the wrong. This prompted an apology from John Haliburton, who recognized his mistake and swore never to do so again.
On Thursday, the Pacers allegedly issued a statement declaring that John Haliburton will not attend any of the team’s games “for the foreseeable future.” According to NBA analyst Shams Charania, John Haliburton “was understanding and accepted” the team’s choice.
Bucks supporters learned of the news and were eager to react.
“Good. “Congratulations to the Pacers on this,” a comment on X read.
“Being proactive, I guess their hope would be nothing comes down from the league after this,” a another individual added.
“But where is the league?” a supporter inquired.
“Aka the next four games then he will be allowed back next season when this all dies down and people forget,” according to a Bucks supporter.
“His father was clowning. “Can’t wait to see them get bounced in four,” wrote another.
“Rare Pacer W,” recognized one user.
This will be a difficult decision for John Haliburton, since he will be unable to support his son in their second-round series against the No. 1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers.
