It is uncommon for a team to be given a perfect deal to move them out of a mediocre scenario. The Washington Wizards received such a gift when Bradley Beal was traded to the Phoenix Suns, while the Los Angeles Lakers postponed a rebuild for more than a decade when the Dallas Mavericks offered Luka Doncic. The Sacramento Kings could be the next in line. With a perfectly mediocre core, the Kings are unable to compete or rebuild, leaving them in NBA purgatory. Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan have a long history of failing to reach the playoffs, and only a truly desperate team would make an offer for either.
Fortunately, the Miami Heat, who were blown out in their first-round opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers, may be desperate enough. ClutchPoints’ Bailey Bassett recently proposed a trade that would earn the Heat a star to pair with Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo, while relieving the Kings of their projected future.
Full Mock Trade Details:
The Miami Heat have acquired Zach LaVine.
Sacramento Kings acquire Andrew Wiggins,
Duncan Robinson, and a 2025 first-round selection (via GSW). If the Kings commit to rebuilding, Robinson and Wiggins are likely to be traded for extra draft money, though either of them receiving an unexpected pick appears unlikely.
However, the Kings owe the Atlanta Hawks their selection in a strong 2025 class, and this trade would give them to add instant young talent to develop around while also positioning them for the future, which now appears dismal.
