In a sincere and poignant act that has warmed the hearts of rock and metal enthusiasts Worldwide, Judas Priest’s legendary frontman Rob Halford and his husband, Thomas, have officially announced a $100,000 donation—along with all additional bonuses earned from the 35th anniversary celebration of the iconic Painkiller album in Poland—to the family of the late Ozzy Osbourne.
The announcement was made during the band’s commemorative concert in Kraków, Poland, as thousands of fans gathered to pay tribute to Judas Priest’s genre-defining album, Painkiller. But the night took a surprisingly emotional turn when Halford, standing center stage, took a pause to address the crowd with raw emotion.
“This celebration isn’t just about music,” Halford told the audience. “It’s about brotherhood, legacy, and love. I lost a brother, a soulmate in this industry, and a true friend in Ozzy Osbourne. So tonight, my husband and I have decided to honor him in the most meaningful way we can.”
The heavy metal icon went on to explain that the donation and performance proceeds would be given directly to Ozzy’s family to support various causes dear to Ozzy’s heart, including mental health programs and music education for underprivileged youth.
Ozzy Osbourne, known as the “Prince of Darkness,” passed away earlier this year following years of health struggles. His death sent shockwaves throughout the music world, especially among fellow pioneers of the heavy metal scene. Halford and Ozzy shared a decades-long bond that transcended music—a friendship built on mutual respect, hardship, and creative passion.
The donation has drawn praise from fans, fellow musicians, and critics alike. Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s widow, expressed deep gratitude in a statement released shortly after the concert: “Rob and Thomas’s gesture is deeply moving. Ozzy always called Rob his ‘metal brother,’ and this generous act only proves how much that bond truly meant. Our family is forever thankful.”
This act of generosity comes at a time when the metal community continues to mourn the loss of one of its greatest icons. But thanks to Halford’s compassion and heartfelt tribute, Ozzy’s legacy will live on—not only through his music but also through the lives touched by this contribution.
As the crowd in Poland roared with chants of “For Ozzy,” Halford raised his fist and shouted back, “He’s with us forever.”
