Jayden Daniels is eagerly awaiting the start of the regular season. The quarterback for the Washington Commanders was unable to hold back his candid opinions about the drawn-out procedure prior to the second week of NFL training camp.
In an interview with reporters on Thursday morning, the second-year quarterback openly acknowledged that he was mentally exhausted from training camp. Daniels joked that it had seemed like three weeks of training camp since he could not believe it had “only” been one week.
“Camp has only lasted a week?” Daniels stated, as reported by NBC4 Sports. “Sheesh. It seemed like three weeks.
Although Daniels’ comment may worry fans, most players honestly think the same thing.
For NFL fans, the offseason seems endless, but for players, training camp frequently arrives too soon. Many players are eager to get back on the field by July.
In his second NFL offseason, Daniels is already getting ready for a season that will be crucial to his career. Entering year two, the Commanders built around him after a strong rookie campaign. Expectations for Daniels are already quite high in a team that has apparently been cursed at quarterback.
In 2025, Jayden Daniels will have a lot to prove with Commanders.
The Commanders made a number of significant, ground-breaking changes during the 2025 offseason, making them one of the busiest teams. The team notably added Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil to Daniels’ arsenal, and many of those acquisitions were offensive in nature.
In addition, Washington lured Michael Gallup out of his temporary retirement and selected Jaylin Lane and Josh Conerly Jr. in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Commanders’ faith in Daniels and their determination to make a serious run for the Super Bowl are both evident in the total roster turnover.
Throughout the offseason, Samuel has been the team’s de facto top receiver because Terry McLaurin’s contract status is still uncertain. Daniels would have a far superior receiving corps in 2025 if McLaurin rejoined the team, compared to his rookie year.
The Commanders were able to keep things uniform around Daniels in spite of the new members. Washington brought back eight of the 11 offensive starters and re-signed Marcus Mariota as his backup. Notably, Zach Ertz and Austin Ekeler, two of Washington’s most important 2024 veteran leaders, return to support Daniels as a young leader in development.
