All offseason long, there have been rumors that the San Antonio Spurs might be interested in making a trade for a veteran. Despite finishing just 34-48 the previous season, San Antonio is ready to make a significant impact this coming season. They were thought to be interested in Kevin Durant, but he ultimately joined the Houston Rockets. A more well-known NBA legend may now be on the trading block. LeBron James recently exercised his contract’s $52.6 million option, but his agent, Rich Paul, hinted at a trade interest.
“We recognize the challenge of winning today while preparing for tomorrow,” Paul stated. At this point in LeBron’s life and career, we do want to assess what’s best for him. Although it wasn’t a straightforward trade request, it did pave the way for one. After opting against a trade for Durant, perhaps the Spurs might be open to a deal for James, but what would it cost?
