For Under Armour, De’Aaron Fox was set to embark on a tour of Asia, stopping in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Xi’an, and Chongqing. Sadly, the Spurs’ quick point guard didn’t explain to supporters why he wouldn’t be playing in a video he published announcing his decision. However, Hong Kong reporters have reported that Fox is reportedly coping with a hamstring/thigh strain from an exercise.
This is terrible news for Spurs Nation as well as the supporters in Asia who were anticipating seeing one of San Antonio’s more recent weapons. Although the specifics of the injury are unknown, we do know that hamstring strains can persist.
To make sure it doesn’t trouble him during the season, that entails getting lots of sleep. He’s not training if he’s resting, and suddenly the Spurs are facing a dilemma akin to theirs from the previous campaign.
The season may suffer because of Fox’s injury.
Once more, the specifics of the claimed injuries are yet unknown. However, it’s cause for concern if it’s severe enough to make him miss this eagerly awaited occasion. The players are expected to report to training camp in just a few short months, even though it seems like the offseason is going on forever.
Fox’s summer will now be much shorter, and he will probably spend most of that time recovering from his injuries. As the team’s top players, Victor Wembanyama and his new partner-in-crime will both be focal points in the offense, thus fans were expecting they would be honing their two-man skills.
Either player’s sideline jeopardizes that objective and causes them to regress. Devin Vassell spent the most of the summer recovering from the previous season. He didn’t have surgery right away after suffering a foot injury that kept him out of games at the end of the season. He didn’t get the surgery until June 26th, even though the Spurs season concluded in April.
The young, tough-shotmaker had an uneven season as a result of pushing his rehabilitation into the season, which prevented him from playing in the 2024–25 campaign. While everyone is hopeful Dev would have a strong season, we now have to worry about Fox experiencing the same thing.
The Spurs should shortly announce this development and provide a schedule that is significantly shorter than the typical hamstring injury. The Institute of Sport, Exercise, & Health states that recovery times for hamstring pulls can range from 1-2 weeks to 2-6 or 6-12 weeks, depending on their grade. Cross your fingers for positive news.
