According to reports, the San Diego Padres made a trade offer that the Boston Red Sox turned down.
Sean McAdam of MassLive claims that the Padres made an offer for Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran. San Diego would have acquired prospect Ethan Salas and another prospect in exchange for starter Dylan Cease. But Boston promptly turned down the offer.
Despite the Padres’ interest, Jon Heyman of the New York Post stated that the Red Sox are unlikely to trade Duran.
Duran has been included in trade speculation, but Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow indicated Boston will not part with its outfield depth simply because they have more options in the grass.
July 31 is the MLB trading deadline.
