The Los Angeles Lakers have spent much of the offseason figuring out how to restructure their roster around LeBron James and Luka Doncic. Andrew Wiggins’ name continued coming up in trade rumors. The Miami Heat forward, who was acquired from the Golden State Warriors in February, was rumored to have been a top target for Los Angeles this summer. According to Anthony Irwin of ClutchPoints, Miami considered moving the former No. 1 overall choice to the Lakers in return for Rui Hachimura, Dalton Knecht, and draft assets.

However, that conjecture appears to be finished after Dan Woike of the Athletic ended the rumors on The Zach Lowe Show. In response to Lowe’s allegation that he “didn’t really understand those trade rumors” to begin with, Woike stated the following:

“They aren’t interested in Andrew Wiggins. I believe I can put things to bed.”

Wiggins, who was part of the Heat’s return package for Jimmy Butler, is coming off a 2024-25 season in which he averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while shooting 44.8% from the field and 37.4% from three-point range in stints with Golden State and Miami.

However, it looks that the Lakers will not pursue him as they continue to hunt for better options to complete out their wing rotation and bench depth.
