JUST IN: Spurs Officially Completes The Signing of Big NBA Scoring Machine In Trade With Dallas Mavericks Just After Drafting Dylan Harper

The San Antonio Spurs require a physically imposing forward to complement Victor Wembanyama. With the Dallas Mavericks drafting Cooper Flagg, the Spurs suddenly have the ideal trade target to pursue.

The San Antonio Spurs may preach all they want about patience, but they have a top-five NBA talent on their roster for next season. Victor Wembanyama is too good for the Spurs to continue at the bottom of the standings, and with the addition of De’Aaron Fox, it’s time to focus on the playoffs.

Make the playoffs, and anything is possible. The Indiana Pacers nearly won the championship despite being seeded fifth. The Spurs’ goal is to begin making the playoffs and providing vital postseason experience to their youthful group.

Mavericks just gifted Spurs the perfect trade target to become a playoff lock

This roster need some development to fix its primary shortcomings. One of them is a lack of physicality in the frontcourt. Wembanyama is clearly an exceptional defensive player, although he is not particularly solid. Harrison Barnes will fight within at this point in his career, but he is not a stone pillar inside.

Enter Dallas Mavericks forward P.J. Washington.

Spurs should deal for P.J. Washington.
Washington is accustomed to joining a mid-level team and advancing them to the playoffs. He was a Dallas Mavericks trade deadline target in 2024, and he helped the Mavericks reach the playoffs and then the NBA Finals.

The Spurs hope Washington will do the same for them. He fits in perfectly with Wembanyama, from his power and low center of gravity being the ideal defensive complement to his confident 3-point shot and perimeter skills.

Furthermore, he plays no role on the Dallas Mavericks squad. His potential to play minutes as a smallball 5 is worthless since Dereck Lively II, Daniel Gafford, and Anthony Davis are already crowded at the big spots, and Cooper Flagg is the first choice and a natural power forward. It’s difficult to fit three adults inside, let alone three star-level players to turn him off.

The Mavericks are likely to move Washington, and if he is available, the Spurs will make a run. He would be an excellent complement to Wembanyama, taking on larger opponents and spreading the court around whatever action he is taking. It’s a match built for heaven.

Wembanyama. De’Aaron Fox. P. J. Washington. The squad will have the context to evaluate how everyone works together, and they will be a serious postseason contender. Once you’re there, anything can happen, and the Spurs now have the ammunition to go out and get it.
