San Antonio is poised to dominate the NBA next season and may be among the best-run teams in NBA history.
They have a lot of options because Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo have the potential to be dealt to the Spurs.
Despite having a poor season this year, they were fortunate to be selected second overall by the draft lottery gods, which will allow them to bolster their core of Stephon Castle, the year’s rookie of the year, De’Aaron Fox, and young French sensation Victor Wembanyama.
There is little to no reason why the Spurs should not select Dylan Harper, the consensus No. 2 choice, at this height of the draft, even though he is by no means a position of need.
Durant may give this team a weapon that would make them unstoppable, but even without him, they could be a formidable force in the next five years.
It shouldn’t cost more to acquire Durant than a deal that includes players like Jeremy Sochan and the 14th pick. Durant, who is 37 years old and still deadly, would provide much-needed shooting and a proven postseason player.
The Spurs’ starting lineup might resemble this if they were able to sign Durant:

This team doesn’t have any obvious weaknesses; their offense should be so unstoppable that it won’t be much of a concern, despite a minor problem with size and defense.
By outscoring opponents, the Pacers have given the Spurs a great example of how to develop their ideology.
The Spurs should be able to make enough stops to win more than 55 games with Wembanyama as their defensive cornerstone and Castle as their excellent point of attack.
However, their finest players are on such low-cost rookie contracts that they have unimaginable flexibility, which is the primary reason they will be so dominant.
It is easier to fill the bench and the remaining starts when your greatest player is not on a supermax. The Spurs can get Durant without having to part with too many valuable assets since the second apron in the salary cap handicaps a lot of clubs.
For the foreseeable future, Castle and Harper will also remain under team control on a minor contract, which is fantastic for the Spurs.If you’re a Spurs fan, it’s difficult not to be thrilled about the upcoming five years of basketball.
