One NBA team that has been mentioned as being ready to make a huge impression this offseason is the San Antonio Spurs. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant have both been connected to the Spurs in high-profile trade speculations.
Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox both had injuries during the Spurs’ dismal 2024–25 campaign. The Spurs hope to begin contending for a title next season, and both players should be fully recovered.
San Antonio has become a top destination as they search for another star to join the roster, since Kevin Durant is anticipated to find a new home for the upcoming season.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, “I’m like 98 percent sure that Kevin Durant won’t be a Sun next year, but I’m about 1 percent sure how it works out.” “There’s gonna be a number of teams interested, but some of it is gonna depend on whether they see KD as a player they keep on a 1-year contract or extension.”
John Gambadoro, presenter of the Arizona Sports radio talk program, recently said that he had information from a reliable source that Durant discussed with a close friend or relative the possibility of San Antonio serving as his new NBA home.
“I do know somebody that has been with Kevin Durant recently, and Kevin Durant and this person talked about the Spurs,” stated Gambadoro. ”
I won’t reveal who it is, but once more, KD was speaking with someone he knows and trusts, and he brought up the Spurs.”
Since Durant has been connected to the Spurs for a while, it appears that Durant’s team is interested, if Gambadoro’s source is accurate. After becoming a legend at the University of Texas, Durant’s visit to Texas would be a full circle occasion.
Durant, 36, is coming off a fantastic season in which he averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.2 blocks per contest.
His shooting percentages of 52.7 percent from the field and 43.0 percent from three-point range are the second-best of his career and the highest in a season in which he has played at least 40 games, demonstrating his effectiveness as he ages gracefully.
