Los Angeles remains a top free agent destination. While the Lakers haven’t had much success in free agency in recent years, the chance to match Doncic with another great might be intriguing when LeBron James decides to retire.
Despite this reality, some, including Jahlil Williams of Air Alamo, believe Doncic has little incentive to stay in Los Angeles and should be traded to the San Antonio Spurs.
“I’m not sure why Luka Doncic would want to stay in Los Angeles given the current reports. According to recent reports, Austin Reaves, the Lakers’ third-best player, may not return after next season. There’s no reason for the Slovenian savant to settle down if they’re likely to lose some of their best players in the coming year.
“Bron is now over 40 years old, and he’s expected to opt into the last year of his contract,” according to him. “That could indicate that he is considering retiring or moving on after the season. That means Luka would lose his numbers two and three, so what does he have left to compete with?”
Will Doncic leave the Lakers?
Given where the Los Angeles Lakers now stand, a trade for Doncic by the San Antonio Spurs would be shocking. Unless they were completely blown away by an offer, there’s no reason to consider moving on from the MVP candidate.
However, combining him with Victor Wembanyama would excite all NBA fans.
Despite some speculation that Doncic dislikes Los Angeles, he has since quieted those claims. He claimed he loved everything about the Lakers, including playing by the seaside.

Doncic should want to stick with LeBron.
Doncic’s affiliation with the Los Angeles Lakers also gives him the opportunity to play alongside LeBron James, arguably the best player in NBA history.
James has accomplished everything that any player in the history of the game could hope for, but there are other reasons why Doncic wants to continue playing with him. James takes excellent care of his physique, and Doncic should take note.
