This season, the Spurs executed a blockbuster trade with the Sacramento Kings, obtaining All-Star point guard De’Aaron Fox. Fox averaged 19.7 points and 6.8 assists in 17 games for San Antonio before having season-ending left pinkie surgery.

The 27-year-old Fox is eligible to sign an extension with the Spurs this offseason, and ESPN’s Bobby Marks predicts San Antonio will offer the southpaw a hefty four-year, $229 million contract.

“Fox is eligible to agree to an extension after the Finals conclude but is restricted on the amount of years and total value,” says Marks. “The three-year, $140.2 million extension increases to four-years, $229 million starting on Aug. 3.” Expect Fox to sign a four-year, $229 million deal.

Fox was the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He has career averages of 21.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists for the Kings and Spurs.

San Antonio appears to have a promising future, with Fox and Victor Wembanyama guiding the way. It will be interesting to see if Fox and Wembanyama can get the Spurs back to the playoffs for the first time since 2019.
