All eyes are on star tight end Kyle Pitts as trade rumors heat up in Atlanta. The Falcons have reportedly drawn a lot of interest from teams throughout the league in recent weeks, according to several sources, including those from Hindustan Times and Sportsnaut. However, general manager Terry Fontenot isn’t considering anything less than a spectacular comeback.
Teams have been actively pursuing Pitts, according to people familiar with the matter, in an attempt to take advantage of what many see as a new beginning under new head coach Raheem Morris. Nevertheless, Fontenot has made it obvious that a huge package of selections and/or players is required to move Kyle Pitts out of the way.
Kyle possesses a unique gift. “He’s a weapon, not just a tight end,” a league official told Sportsnaut. “Atlanta is aware of his worth and will not part with him.”
Pitts, who was selected fourth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, had high expectations going into the league and promptly lived up to them, recording a 1,000-yard rookie season. Teams throughout the NFL think he still has All-Pro potential in the correct system, despite the fact that his output has decreased since then as a result of injuries and uneven quarterback play.
Pitts has become the subject of much conjecture as the Falcons seek to move on and establish their long-term goals. Some speculate that the team may be trying to build around a new core or move up in the 2025 draft.
According to others, the Falcons will not turn down top-tier offers even though they still see Pitts as a key component of the future.
The Los Angeles Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Dallas Cowboys have all been mentioned by NFL sources as potential suitors. In order to finalize a deal, all three want to acquire dynamic pass-catching weapons and have the draft capital.
Fontenot has not publicly discussed Pitts’ future despite the commotion. The message is obvious behind closed doors, though: this won’t be a bargain-bin trade.
Kyle Pitts might still be wearing a Falcons jersey in Week 1 unless a team makes an incredible offer. However, the situation is still fluid—and explosive—with the offseason underway and general managers answering phones.
