JUST IN: Mets Boss David Stearns Reveals a Shocking Ronny Mauricio Call Up Decision Amid Hot Start in Triple-A

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com claims that Stearns provided a list of the reasons Mauricio is still in the minor levels. He believes that before the Mets feel at ease, Mauricio needs more minor league experience.

According to MLB.com, Ronny Mauricio is the ninth-ranked prospect in the New York Mets’ system. Nevertheless, the 24-year-old shortstop for the Mets is still recuperating from knee surgery in the minor levels. He is killing it there, hitting over.500 in seven Triple-A games with the Syracuse Mets. Carlos Mendoza and the team are not in a hurry to call him up, according to David Stearns, president of baseball operations. He would be seated behind Francisco Lindor if he were to join the major league squad.

Maurcio played 26 games for New York in his Major League Baseball debut the previous season. With two home runs and a batting average of.248 over little over 100 at-bats, he was productive. However, Mendoza and Stearns want to be cautious due to operations on his right knee.

“Our main goal is for him to get the volume and reps under him so that he can hopefully keep swinging a really hot bat,” Stearns stated. “And it gives us something to think about once we reach that point.”

The Mets organization also believes that before moving on, Mauricio needs to improve on some aspects of his game. He has more opportunities in the minor leagues than he would if he were a member of the Mets.

Stearns would like to see him improve his discipline at the plate, among other things.

“He’s likely never going to be the type of guy with Juan Soto-type plate discipline, but there are probably some strides he can make there,” Stearns said. “We’ll support him to keep making progress while he’s in Triple-A, acknowledging that his talent is his ability to hit the ball with tremendous force.”

Mauricio may be among the minor leagues’ top hitters at the moment. Fans shouldn’t anticipate him breaking into the major leagues anytime soon, though. Lindor is their regular shortstop while he attempts to guide them to the postseason, at least for the time being.
