JUST IN: AGREEMENT SEALED; Sunderland Have Officially Reached Full Term Agreement With AJax To Bring £120,000-a-Week ‘World-Beater’ Back to the Stadium of Light.

According to reports, Sunderland and Ajax have “initiated early contact” over a spectacular move to bring Jordan Henderson back to the Stadium of Light.

Following their thrilling 2-1 victory over Sheffield United in the play-off final last weekend, the Black Cats are once again in the top division. Henderson, a former midfielder, attended Wembley to see his childhood team’s promotion to the Premier League.

After 12 years at Liverpool, where he captained the Reds to the Premier League and Champions League, the 34-year-old left English football in the summer of 2023. Six months after moving to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, he quickly returned to Europe with Ajax.

Sunderland told to seal dream transfer deal for Ajax's Jordan Henderson

Ajax and Sunderland Henderson, who has one year remaining on his contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena, has been the subject of preliminary discussions between Sunderland and Ajax, according to Sam C. Although he left the North East team in 2011, he might return to “his club” with emotion.

In January, Henderson and a possible move to AS Monaco were linked to Sunderland. He spoke about his passion for the newly-promoted team at the time, calling them “my club”, but downplayed concerns over a return by stressing he wanted to stay and help Ajax.
The 83-cap England international looked likely to take the Eredivisie title as the Dutch side’s captain until a dramatic collapse saw them miss out on success.

PSV Eindhoven defeated them to the title by a point, and this has led to discussion over several players’ futures, including the former Black Cats academy graduate.

In the Netherlands, there are rumors that Henderson wants to leave Ajax now that manager Francesco Farioli has decided to quit. The club reportedly wants to cut his alleged £120,000 weekly salary.

Henderson plays. Ralf Rangnick feels Jurgen Klopp turned into a “world-beater”, and might be a major signing for Regis Le Bris. A possible battle against relegation would benefit from his leadership and experience.
