The San Diego Padres are still a long way from challenging the Los Angeles Dodgers for a World Series bid, after starting the season as one of baseball’s top teams. Only a few aspects of the Padres’ roster can be improved at the trade deadline because they have a solid bullpen, an impressive rotation, and a number of elite sluggers.
However, they have already selected a crucial location. Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune stated that the organization has “begun exploring the trade market for a left fielder,” following veteran Jason Heyward’s placement on the injured list due to a left oblique strain.
