LIONS OFFICIAL PODCAST: Detroit Lions Official Sign First-Round DT Tyleik Williams To a Four Years Contract .

The Lions have already signed several members of their seven-man draft class. They signed first-round defensive tackle Tyleik Williams today, giving them the group’s highest deal.
Williams played 51 games for Ohio State over his four-year career. Despite not starting as a freshman, Williams shown tremendous potential in the defensive line rotation, recording five sacks, 6.5 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. His contributions decreased during his sophomore season, but he became a full-time starter in his third year. Williams led the Buckeyes with 5.5 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, and six passes defensed in his junior and senior seasons.

Williams, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 330 pounds, has the potential to command multiple blockers when he plays at his best. He uses his pre-snap intellect and imposing stature to stack blockers on the line and restrict rushing lanes, making him an excellent addition to a club that already had a top-five rush defense in 2024.

Because to defensive line injuries, the Lions were frequently linked to defensive line prospects, however defensive end prospects were more common given the team’s return of both D.J. Reader and Alim McNeill. The team also re-signed Levi Onwuzurike, a former second-round pick, to a one-year contract. Because of this, Williams may not have an immediate role in Detroit, but the rookie will undoubtedly be called on in the future.

Williams is the sixth drafted rookie to sign an initial four-year contract in Detroit, trailing only Georgia offensive lineman Tate Ratledge, who was selected in the second round. Below is a breakdown of the team’s 2025 draft class:
