He is not naive. This season, the Bears have done everything they can to empower him. They hired one of the league’s top offensive minds as head coach. They spent tremendous amounts.
The team invested on his protection and utilized their first two draft picks to acquire new tight end and wide receiver players. The Bears have never had a rookie quarterback be so well-armed so early in his career. If he fails to win games and produce at a high level this year, his future as a franchise quarterback may be in doubt. The fact that Caleb Williams is spending additional time preparing shows that he is not naive. He recognizes that expectations have recently increased significantly. The grace period is over. It’s time to go win.
