HUGE SIGNING: Lions Bringing in Explosive Second-Year WR To Replace Jameson Williams In a Shocking NFL Trade

The Detroit Lions are packed for next season, and one of their stronger positions is wide receiver. Amon-Ra St. Brown has emerged as one of the league’s top weapons since being taken in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and Jameson Williams has brushed aside some offseason trade speculations to return to Detroit for a third season.

But just because the Lions have a great starting pair and Tim Patrick behind them does not mean they don’t require another weapon. Detroit is still scouting the wire for another free agency target to sign before next year, and it has expanded with the addition of a quick weapon released by a competitor.

According to Mike Uvah of Gamecock Central, the Lions have invited wide receiver Ahmarean Brown to their rookie minicamp this weekend. Brown attended the Philadelphia Eagles’ rookie minicamp last week but did not receive a contract offer as he continues to be a free agent.

Former South Carolina wide receiver Ahmarean Brown remains a free agent despite being invited to the Eagles rookie minicamp this past weekend. His representative @AgentSarahJ informs me that he has been invited to the Detroit Lions’ rookie minicamp, which will take place this Friday and Sunday.

Brown played five seasons at Georgia Tech and South Carolina, catching 92 passes for 1,136 yards and nine touchdowns. While he signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent, he spent the majority of his first season on Buffalo Bills’ practice squad.

Bills Sign 'Blazing' Fast Rookie to Add Depth at Wide Receiver

The good news for Brown is that he has an appealing athletic profile. Brown’s size (5-foot-9, 165 pounds) is significantly below NFL standards, but he brings blistering speed to the table. During his pre-draft process, he clocked a 4.37-second 40-yard sprint, which he utilized to average 18.9 yards per reception as a freshman at Georgia Tech.

Brown faces an uphill battle to make the Lions roster, but he can make a good impression and earn a spot at OTAs later this month.
