Aidan Hutchinson, the Detroit Lions’ premier pass rusher, sustained a season-ending broken fibula and tibia against the Dallas Cowboys on October 13.
During his appearance at The Masters last month, Hutchinson informed media that his recuperation is on track.
“I’m there; I’d say I’m good,” Hutchinson said. “I have my final evaluation tests when I get back; I leave today and return to the rehab tomorrow. I’m going to finish those evaluations, and once I do, I’ll be done with rehab. I’ll tell you, it was a long process.
While Hutchinson appears to believe he is on schedule to be ready for the start of the 2025 season, some Lions fans are skeptical when a recent video of Hutchinson working out surfaced on social media, which appears to show the 24-year-old defensive end failing with some movement drills.
Fans on social media pointed out that Hutchinson’s wounded leg is visibly smaller than his other one (which is to be expected). Others remarked that he looks to have a hitch in his stride during one of his sprinting drills, which they felt is alarming given Lions head coach Dan Campbell stated that if the club had made it to the Super Bowl on February 9, there was a possibility that Hutchinson could have returned.
“Don’t get me wrong, nothing beats a comeback story. But I’m not sure how anyone expects him to return to form. “That leg will never be the same,” an admirer wrote.
“Looks much slower to me. Another fan wrote, “There’s no explosiveness, which is what his game is all about.”
“Definitely suffering with the wounded leg. Take your [crap] time and rehab, man,” a third fan said.
“It’s bad. “He has no confidence in that leg,” one person wrote.
“Yeahhhh, he doesn’t move the same way,” another user admitted.
“No, he’s very much done. He may return, but he isn’t nearly as explosive as before. “His career is over,” said one fan.While Hutchinson is definitely not fully recovered, the season does not begin for another four months. Given the severity of his injuries, it is not surprise that the Lions take a cautious approach to Hutchinson’s recovery and he misses the first four games of 2025.
