BREAKING: MLB Official Announced Reschedule Date Time and Venue For Postponed Mets-Cardinals Game

Saturday afternoon baseball in St. Louis had all the makings of a classic: the New York Mets arrived to Busch Stadium fresh off a commanding 9-3 victory over the Cardinals on Friday night, with momentum on their side and the fragrance of a series win in the air. But Mother Nature had different intentions. Instead of a crack of the bat and a roar from the crowd, spectators heard a whoosh of wind and a patter of rain.
According to several sources, Saturday’s game has been officially postponed due to a weather system that refuses to cooperate. Mets’ insider Anthony DiComo verified the report on X.

, adding that the two teams would now play a Sunday doubleheader, with first pitches at 1:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. ET. So, instead of a relaxing weekend pace, it’ll be a full day of hardball in Gateway City.

Blade and Veteran
With the revamped timetable comes a new pitching strategy. The Mets will start with Blade Tidwell on the mound. Tidwell, who was just promoted from Triple-A Syracuse, may not have the most impressive ERA (5.00 through 27 innings), but there are reasons to be optimistic. His Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP) is a sharp 3.21, indicating that he has been more unlucky than ineffective—similar to judging a book by its cover.

It’s a hefty ask for a rookie arm, especially in the heat of a doubleheader, but the Mets are betting on the potential. Tidwell showed promise in spring training and now has a significant opportunity to prove he can compete at the next level.

Tylor Megill, who is quietly putting together one of his best seasons yet, will play in game two. He’s been dealing in 2025, with a 1.74 ERA in six starts and 39 strikeouts in 31 innings. If Tidwell is the new blood, Megill is the steady hand, offering serenity to a pitching staff plagued by injury and inconsistency all season.
