As the Cousins issue in Atlanta continues with little to no movement toward a trade, the one team remaining in the running appears to be focusing elsewhere. Rodgers, like Cousins, had a difficult season after tearing his Achilles, but he has a better shot because he is not under contract.
Cousins has been linked to the Steelers for months, but the rumors are fading down as Rodgers is mentioned and the rumor spreads.
Cousins is still sitting on his enormous contract, which the Falcons are desperately attempting to move away but have yet to find a viable buyer as most clubs have created outstanding quarterback rooms.
The Browns and Titans recently drafted quarterbacks in the early rounds and appear to be out of the running for Cousins.
On the other hand, the Steelers quarterback room still requires some attention, and if the Rodgers deal falls through, Cousins might be in Pittsburgh very soon. All of this is dependent on Rodgers’ decision and the amount of money they pay him.
NFL Insider Albert Breer discussed how this decision affects not only Cousins, but also quarterbacks like Derek Carr, who are dealing with uncertainty in New Orleans and an injury.
Art Rooney has also stated that he is convinced Rodgers will sign with the Steelers, and if he does, the Falcons will need to make a quick decision on what to do with Cousins.
