On a recent episode of the Zach Lowe Show, the long-time NBA analyst stated that Durant is the more plausible target for the Heat. Especially because the Milwaukee Bucks have given no hint that Giannis will leave this summer.
“This is a team that does not react well from being this far from the bar, and so I’m expecting a big offseason for them,” according to Lowe. “I’m not sure what form that will take.” I believe they will try to butt into any superstar trade discussions that arise. They have some goods, but not a lot. They can currently trade two first-round picks and a third on draft night. If the Giannis situation becomes a reality, I don’t see how they have a chance. Durant seems lot more feasible to me.”

Heat Should Consider Rebuilding
While chasing another star is certainly the direction Miami will take, embarking on a full-scale rebuild may be the better option. ESPN’s Bobby Marks recently explained why he believes it is time for the Heat to dismantle everything and rebuild.
“It’s very hard threading the needle,” Marks stated during an April 30 broadcast of ESPN’s NBA Today. “They’ve been a Play-In team for the past few years. Would they ever contemplate taking a step back, similar to the Oklahoma City approach? Maybe you get a core player back and draft picks to go in that manner.
They will remain where they are in a year if nothing changes here. It may be necessary to take a step back rather than chase the stars.”
The decision to rebuild is never simple. It entails accepting several years of losing seasons. However, this choice could reposition the Heat as legitimate competitors in the future. Currently, the franchise is treading water. Adding a star like Durant doesn’t ensure success.
Bam Adebayo expects Heat to make changes.
During his postgame press conference on Monday, April 28, Bam Adebayo discussed his plans for the offseason in Miami.
“There will be a lot of changes this summer,” Adebayo explained. “Just from my perspective, understanding how the guy with the silver hair operates. Just be ready for that.”
If the Heat decide to rebuild, Adebayo’s exit may be one of the adjustments. However, given Riley’s past, Miami will most likely seek to retool on the fly. It’s unclear whether Durant will move to South Beach. The only thing is certain: the Heat have a busy offseason ahead of them.
