JUST IN: Atlanta Falcon Owner Arthur Blank Sends Clear Message to Falcons GM Terry Fontenot About Kirk Cousins’ Future

As the NFL offseason begins, one topic has dominated discussion throughout the league: the quarterback position.

While few teams are desperate for a quarterback, many may benefit from adding a player with leadership and experience to their roster.

Teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, and even the Las Vegas Raiders may discover value in a veteran for their franchise.

Former general manager Mike Tannenbaum speaks in on Kirk Cousins.

There is a quarterback in Atlanta who is second on the Falcons depth chart but carries some severe baggage with him.

ESPN Insider Mike Tannenbaum discussed what the Falcons should do with Kirk Cousins.

“We have to trade him… “He does not want to be there, and this has been well documented,” Tannenbaum stated.
What will be difficult for the Falcons and any team eager to trade for him is the guaranteed money Cousins is promised under the contract he signed in 2024.

The 36-year-old quarterback is expected to earn slightly more than $37 million in guaranteed money over the next two years.
“How much is Atlanta going to consume, and how much is the acquiring team? “The guaranteed money will be the most difficult part to resolve,” the former general manager explained.

Of course, any trade for Kirk Cousins would most certainly include draft compensation as well as one or two players. The true determining factor will be how much value the purchasing team believes Cousins possesses.

While it is unclear where he will go and what the return will be, Cousins’ tenure as Atlanta’s starting quarterback appears to be coming to an end.
