JUST IN: Brown Head Coach Kevin Stefanski Officially Name Brown Starting QB Following Latest NFL Draft

CLEVELAND — After months of speculation and a whirlwind NFL Draft weekend, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has made it official: Deshaun Watson will remain the team’s starting quarterback heading into the 2025 season.

The announcement came Monday morning during a press conference at the Browns’ training facility in Berea, just two days after Cleveland used a mid-round draft pick to select USC quarterback Miller Moss. While the selection raised eyebrows and sparked fresh debate among fans and analysts alike, Stefanski quickly shut down any brewing quarterback controversy.

“Deshaun is our guy,” Stefanski said firmly. “We believe in him, and we’re confident he’ll lead this team where we want to go. The decision to draft a quarterback was about building depth and ensuring we’re prepared for the long haul.”

Watson, who battled through injury and inconsistency in 2024, is entering his third full season with the Browns since being acquired in a blockbuster trade from the Houston Texans. Despite flashes of brilliance, his tenure in Cleveland has been clouded by off-the-field distractions and on-field rust. Still, Stefanski and GM Andrew Berry appear committed to riding with the former Pro Bowler.

Miller Moss, who impressed scouts with his poise, deep-ball accuracy, and leadership at USC, is expected to begin the season as a developmental backup behind Watson and veteran Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Stefanski emphasized the importance of creating a competitive quarterback room without causing division.

“We want guys who push each other, learn from each other, and are ready when their name is called,” Stefanski said.

The Browns also added offensive weapons and linemen in the draft, signaling a full commitment to strengthening the team around Watson. With the AFC North as competitive as ever, the Browns will need Watson to return to his Houston form if they hope to make a serious postseason run.

As offseason workouts begin, all eyes in Cleveland will be on QB1 — and now, there’s no question who that is.
