DEAL AGREED: Yankees Have Officially Agreed and Completed The Signing Of $200 Million Rival and MLB BEST Infielder Who Derailed 2 World Series Runs

Despite sitting atop the American League East rankings with a 14-9 record, the New York Yankees’ underachieving position players and starting pitchers are likely holding them back. And, while 22 games into the season is too early to panic, general manager Brian Cashman is most likely keeping a close check on everything as he looks for areas that need to be upgraded as the season progresses. The Yankees have been linked to numerous pitchers in recent weeks, including Miami’s Sandy Alcantara, San Diego’s Dylan Cease, and Arizona’s Zac Gallen; nevertheless, some pundits believe they should look for more offensive help.

Newsweek’s Zach Pressnell is one of them, and he recently floated a trade scenario in which the Yankees could acquire Minnesota Twins star baseman Carlos Correa. “Adding Correa, who’s off to a slow start himself, would give the Yankees an additional veteran to play every day,” according to Pressnell. “Correa would start at third base for New York, but he can play anywhere in the infield if Jazz Chisholm Jr. or Anthony Volpe are injured or have an off day.

“The sole issue here is his contract. The Bronx Bombers are unlikely to pick up the remainder of his enormous contract, so the Twins would have to absorb a portion of the money if they wish to sell him. It’s definitely something to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

Correa is well-known among the Yankees. He played for the Houston Astros in the 2017 and 2019 American League Championship Series, where they defeated New York. Correa, who inked a six-year, $200 million deal with the Twins in 2023, is off to a slow start this season.

Yankees proposed trade lands $200 million superstar shortstop to solve third base issues | Sporting News

He’s batting.194 with one home run, five RBIs, and seven runs scored, but he’s a reliable performer. The 30-year-old shortstop has hit 20 or more home runs in six of his nine seasons with at least 75 games, and he has 54 or more RBIs in nine of his first ten seasons. Plugging Correa in at third base would solve New York’s biggest pitching problem. The Yankees’ third-base platoon of Oswaldo Cabrera, Oswald Peraza, and Pablo Reyes has generated only two home runs, eight RBIs, 16 runs, and a.264 batting average.
